Performance boost with Sony CMOS image sensor and Ambarella SoC. Fast focus, low noise, excellent color reproduction.

With a Sony CMOS image sensor and a powerful Ambarella integrated system-on-a-chip (SoC), you’ll find enhanced performance in areas of focusing speed, noise reduction under low-light conditions and reproduction of colors as compared with previous models of IPEVO doc cams. This lets you teach or present with lesser disruptions, distortions and latency even in dimly lit environments.

Glass fiber reinforced stand. Stronger yet lighter.

Inside VZ-R’s stand, you’ll find a type of glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic-GVX-5H (developed by the Swiss company EMS-GRIVORY). Having the strength of metal yet light-weighted than most, GVX-5H has been widely used to replace metal components in many different applications. With it, you’ll enjoy increased durability as VZ-R is less likely to break from heavy daily usage. And talking about lightweight, you’ll appreciate VZ-R’s portability as it only weighs 2.2 lbs (1 kg)-perfect for swapping between classrooms or conference rooms!

Small footprint. Big impact.

VZ-R’s small footprint allows you to do more with a limited amount of space. Its base won’t take up too much of your desk, and the unit can be folded together and transported between classrooms, home or office.

To reduce packaging footprint, VZ-R’s base is not attached to its stand right out of the box. Watch this video to learn how to attach the base.

Built-in LED light. Light up when you need it.

VZ-R features a built-in LED light that gives you additional illumination for capturing material in dimly lit environments. It is ideal for use in classrooms or conference rooms that don’t have adequate lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. Can I plug VZ-R into a 220v power outlet? VZ-R can plug into any USB outlet that supports 100v to 240v. Since VZ-R does not come with a USB power adapter, you may connect to any USB outlet that you are comfortable charging your phone or tablet with. VZ-R can also be powered by the USB ports available on your computer or laptop.

Q. Does VZ-R work with Presenter? No. VZ-R was designed to work with Ipevo's new software, Visualizer. Similar to Presenter, Visualizer is completely free to download and will provide you with much of the same features as Presenter, but with a refreshed look!

Q. Can I project an image from VZ-R to a computer via USB and a projector/TV via HDMI simultaneously? Unfortunately, no. VZ-R cannot project its image via its USB and HDMI ports at the same time. You can, however, connect your VZ-R to a computer via USB and then connect the computer to a projector/TV to get an image at both locations. Please note that an HDMI connection will always take priority over a USB one.

Q. Can I capture audio using VZ-R? Audio capturing is only available for VZ-R’s USB mode as VZ-R’s built-in mic is only functional in USB mode.

Q. Can I record video using VZ-R? Video recording is only available for VZ-R’s USB mode. With IPEVO Visualizer software, VZ-R supports image snapshot as well as video recording.

Q. I connected VZ-R to the HDMI port of my computer using an HDMI cable. However, no image appears on my computer screen. Please make sure you’ve connected VZ-R to an HDMI Input port on your computer. VZ-R will not work with an HDMI Output port.

Q. The live image flickers continuously when I connect VZ-R to my HDMI display. Please check the electrical frequency of your country. If it’s running on 50Hz, do change VZ-R’s frequency to match it using the Frequency Switch placed at the back of VZ-R’s body. If it’s running on 60Hz, do change it to 60Hz.

Q. There is no power adapter included in the package. How can I power VZ-R on for using in HDMI mode? There are a few ways to provide power for VZ-R:

  • Connect it to an outlet using any of your phone or tablet 5V/1A USB power adapter and the included Micro-USB cable.
  • Connect it to the powered USB port of a TV, projector or computer using the included Micro-USB cable.
  • Connect it to a power bank/portable charger.

Q. Do I need to install a driver to use VZ-R? You do not need to install any driver to use VZ-R. When in HDMI mode, you can connect it directly to your HDMI display. When in USB mode, VZ-R uses a UVC (USB Video Class) driver that is available by default in your operating system.
